§ Mr. Austin Mitchellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing for each income range and each class referred to in his reply to the hon. Member for Great Grimsby, Official Report, 6 March, column 502, the average amount of relief granted for (a) those in receipt of investment income, (b) other and (c) both combined.
§ Mr. MooreEstimates based on projections from the survey of personal incomes for 1981–82 are given in the following table. Persons with any amount of investment income, including those whose investment income is small relative to mortgage interest relief received, are so categorised. As in my previous reply, the figures do not take account of taxpayers who obtained the option mortgage subsidy in 1982–83.
