Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many applications from tenants for the purchase of their homes from Cunninghame district council are outstanding at present.

Mr. Ancram

I understand from information supplied by Cunninghame district council that the district council had 225 applications to buy outstanding at 31 March 1984.

Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local authority dwellings were let to new tenants in the years 1976–77 to 1982–83 inclusive (a) through the waiting list, normal allocation and (b) other.

The stock of houses which at any one time is let for rent varies throughout the course of a year for a variety of reasons. The average number of houses let for rent during each of the years in question is as follows:
