HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 c1W
44. Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the current levels of British Government development aid to the Republic of Guyana.

Mr. Raison

Guyana is in arrears with its international loan and debt repayments. In common with most other donors, we have told the Government of Guyana that until they reach an agreement with the IMF no more capital aid will be provided. Meanwhile, the unspent balance of our capital aid, amounting to abut £3.3 million, has been frozen. Our programme of technical co-operation is continuing.
