HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 c36W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if there will be an expansion of the experiment in the use of fines enforcement officers; and if these experiments in Airdrie and Edinburgh have been successful.

Mr. Ancram

I refer the hon. Member to the replies given by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State to the hon. Member for Glasgow, Garscadden (Mr. Dewar) on 9 December 1983. The experiment in Airdrie and Edinburgh is still being evaluated but preliminary findings are encouraging. It is hoped to publish the main findings of the experiment once its evaluation is complete, and to indicate then what changes in find enforcement work may result from it. [Vol. 50, c.287–88.]
