HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 cc19-20W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what has been the total volume of exports and imports in trade with the European Economic Community in each year since 1970; and if he can provide separate figures for trade in oil and financial services, separately.

Mr. Channon

Estimates of trade volumes are not compiled by area. An analysis by value of United Kingdom visible trade with the other members of the Community is published in the bi-annual White Paper "Developments in the European Community". Value figures of trade in financial services from 1973 are published annually in the United Kingdom Balance of Payments (Pink Book), table 12.1. Copies of these publications are in the House Library.

Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will publish a table showing, in respect of both the current and pre-1973 membership of the European Economic Community, the percentage of United Kingdom exports of all goods and services, visible exports and manufactured goods, respectively, which went to the European Economic Community; and if he will publish a table showing the same percentage information in respect of the percentage of United Kingdom imports which came from the European Economic Community.

Mr. Channon

The figures for 1982, the latest year for which most of the information is available, are in the following table.
