Whether they have plans to move women prisoners now confined in H Wing of Durham Gaol to a more modern prison with better rehabilitation facilities.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Elton)Not at present. Some of the women located in H Wing may, however, be eligible for transfer to Holloway when further accommodation becomes available there. No decision has yet been taken on Holloway's ability, when the rebuilding there has been completed, to take category A sentenced prisoners. The use of H Wing will be kept under review as further development takes place at Holloway.
