asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans are now under consideration to establish places designated by him as places suitable for the care of drunken persons.

It is for local authorities and other appropriate bodies to apply for designation by the Secretary of State for purposes of section 5 of the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 1980. One designated place has been established. No formal proposals are under consideration at present.
