Mr. Parry

asked the Attorney-General how many divorces there have been in (a) Liverpool and (b) Merseyside in each of the past five years.

The following table shows the number of divorce petitions filed from 1979 to 1983 and the number of decrees nisi granted from 1981 to 1983 in the Merseyside county courts, including Liverpool. Figures for decrees nisi are not available for individual courts before 1981.
