§ Mr. Nicholas Bakerasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will announce further details of arrangements for assisting dairy farmers to adapt their enterprises referred to in his statement of 2 April.
§ Mr. MacGregorThe Department will be writing to all milk producers in the next few days giving them preliminary information about the operation of the supplementary levy scheme and providing guidance from the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service on how they can adapt their enterprises in the light of the levy system. Producers will also, of course, be able to obtain advice directly from local officers of the ADAS.
§ Mr. Nicholas Bakerasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what special arrangements will be made to assist dairy farmers in receipt of grants under the current farm and horticultural development scheme or similar schemes following the recent European Economic Community review of food prices.
§ Mr. MacGregorThe agreement to introduce a supplementary levy on milk production permits national authorities to adjust reference quantities to take account of producers with development plans under Directive 72/159 and producers who have invested without a development plan. Discussions are taking place with industry representatives to find the most appropriate and equitable arrangements to apply in the United Kingdom.
