HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 cc24-5W
16. Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how the cost of the London concessionary fares scheme will be apportioned between the London boroughs and the City of London following the abolition of the Greater London council.

17. Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how he proposes that the cost of concessionary passes in the Greater London area will be met in the event of the abolition of the Greater London council.

Mr. Ridley

I have nothing to add to what I said on this topic in the debates in this House last Wednesday and Thursday.

19. Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will guarantee to continue the present arrangements for county wide schemes for concessionary fares in the metropolitan counties if the metropolitan county councils are abolished.

Mrs. Chalker

The new joint board passenger transport authorities will inherit the full powers of the metropolitan county councils as far as concessionary fares are concerned, and will be able to operate schemes covering the county as a whole.
