HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 c26W
25. Mr. Hirst

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to announce the privatisation of British Airways; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

My right hon. Friend announced to the House on 12 December 1983 [Vol. 50, c. 686–94.] that the Government hoped to privatise British Airways in early 1985. In preparation for this we have arranged for the vesting of the business in a Companies Act company, British Airways PLC, from 1 April 1984.

29. Mr. Phillip Oppenheim

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on revenue sharing in British Airways.

Mr. David Mitchell

British Airways, like other airlines, is free to decide on commercial grounds whether or not to enter into revenue sharing agreements with other airlines. I do not have any detailed information about the extent of such arrangements.
