asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will introduce legislation to ensure that when banks make interest charges on their customers above a nominal threshold level they are obliged to notify them in writing.

I have no plans to do so at present, but if the hon. Member has any particular practice in mind he might care to write to me about it, or to write to the senior management of the bank in question.
