HL Deb 05 April 1984 vol 450 c891WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will pay average weekly earnings to prisoners who are segregated pending the hearing of charges agaist them, when those charges are subsequently withdrawn.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Elton)

The current prisoners' earnings schemes, with the exception of the higher incentive earnings scheme, provide for the average rate earned by an inmate to be paid in these circumstances. Under the higher incentive earnings scheme the minimum rate is paid.
