What information is available to them about the responsibility the individual who acts as SACEUR has, in his capacity as a United States national commander, for United States forces operating outside the NATO area.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces (Lord Trefgarne)The resonsibilities of United States national commanders are not a matter for Her Majesty's Government. We understand however that General Rogers, in the national capacity as Commander-in-Chief of United States Forces, Europe (CINEUR), has responsibility for command and direction of United States Forces in the European Theatre, defined by the United States authorities to include certain parts of Africa and the Mediterranean littoral as well as Europe as such.
