HC Deb 05 April 1984 vol 57 c630W
Sir Brandon Rhys Williams

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the meeting of the European Community Finance Council in Luxembourg on 2 April.

Mr. Lawson

I represented the United Kingdom at this Council. The Council discussed the main issues that will arise at the forthcoming IMF Interim and Development Committee meetings. The Council also discussed the proposals on financing of European innovation loans to support innovatory investment in small and medium sized firms; the promotion of financial integration in the Community; and agreed on the revision of travellers' allowances for certain goods. There was also an informal discussion of the present state of negotiations on Community budgetary issues, and of the IDA replenishment proposals.
