HC Deb 05 April 1984 vol 57 c661W
Mr. Freeson

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will ensure that there will be added security measures in those British ports to be visited by United States ships carrying strategic sea-launched cruise missiles.

Mr. Stanley

There are appropriate security arrangements in respect of all visits by naval vessels to British ports.

Mr. Freeson

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if United States fast attack submarines carrying sea-launched cruise missiles will be making use of the facilities at Holy Loch.

Mr. Stanley

The US Government have made no request to date to bring vessels carrying sea-launched cruise missiles to the United Kingdom. If a request is made it will be considered in the same way as one from any NATO ally.
