HC Deb 05 April 1984 vol 57 c631W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much is provided under the European Economic Community budget, and what share falls on the British taxpayer, to finance the Association of Former Trainees of the European Communities and its bulletin.

Mr. Ian Stewart

I am not aware that the association receives funds from the Community budget. If the association does receive funds from the Community budget they would be provided from article 291 covering subsidies to European movements. The Commission is responsible for making allocations from this provision, which is 0.4 mecu (about £0.2 million) in the published 1984 Budget. The United Kingdom's average financing share of the 1984 Budget is 21.2 per cent.
