HC Deb 04 April 1984 vol 57 cc538-9W
Mr. Chope

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he intends to proceed with proposals to reduce the age at which the three for two concession applies to schoolchildren seated on public service vehicles.

Mr. Ridley

It would not be right in present circumstances to impose any substantial additional costs on local education authorities. The proposals for consolidating the public service vehicle carrying capacity regulations will therefore be amended so as to leave unchanged the effective age of the three for two concession for children travelling to or from school or on journeys as part of the school curriculum.
