HC Deb 04 April 1984 vol 57 c561W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Prime Minister whether the proposals for agricultural spending being considered by the Council of Ministers are consistent with the proposals put forward by the Government for the limitation of such spending.

The Prime Minister

As my right hon. Friend made clear in his statement to the House on 2 April, agricultural spending has been tending to run ahead this year, but the agreement which has now been reached by the Council will make a major contribution towards the Government's objective of restraining the cost of the common agricultural policy.
