HC Deb 03 April 1984 vol 57 c503W
Mr. Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what adaptations to access, doors, stairways, steps, lifts, toilets and furniture have been made for physically handicapped and disabled employees of his Department; and at what cost.

Mr. Chris Patten

It is not possible to provide a comprehensive list of adaptations except at disproportionate cost. However appropriate adaptations for the physically handicapped and disabled such as access and toilet facilities are incorporated into the design of any new buildings for which the Secretary of State has responsibility. A variety of modifications have been made to existing buildings to facilitate disabled people and this work will continue. Separate costings are not kept in relation to these works.
