HC Deb 03 April 1984 vol 57 c435W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Attorney-General when the upper limit for legal aid for mental health review tribunals will be increased; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The assistance available for proceedings before mental health review tribunals is assistance by way of representation as distinct from legal aid. The Lord Chancellor announced in another place on 28 November 1983 at column 497 that he intended to raise the capital limit for assistance by way of representation to the same level as the lower capital limit for legal aid as soon as an appropriate opportunity arose for the necessary primary legislation.
