HC Deb 03 April 1984 vol 57 c490W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the answer of 30 November, Official Report, column 537, on the subject of consultation with health authorities about provision of adequate levels of care for patients with kidney disease and the involvement of specialists in renal medicine and nurses in the consultation, if he is yet able to say whether appropriate discussions have taken place in each health authority; what the outcome of these consultations have been; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

We have asked regional health authorities to submit proposed targets for developing renal failure services by the end of May. The form of local consultation about these targets is for authorities to decide.

Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Report the names of the renal consultants and nursing staff who were consulted in each health authority concerning levels of care for patients with kidney disease; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

As stated in my reply to the hon. Member on 30 November at column 537 we have not asked authorities for the names of those consulted about their plans.
