asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his latest estimate of the number of (a) households owning their home with a building society mortgage, (b) households owning their home with a mortgage from another source, (c) households owning their home outright and (d) all households in Scotland.

The figures for 1981 are(a) 260,000 households owning their homes with a building society mortgage (b) 55,000 households owning their homes with a mortgage from another source (c) 300,000 households owning their homes outright and (d) 1,815,000 households altogether in Scotland.
