HL Deb 02 April 1984 vol 450 c584WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have recently consulted with the Government of Norway on the negotiations the latter is engaged in with the Soviet Union on the demarcation line which will be NATO's northern submarine border with the Soviet Union, and which abuts on the submarine and other sea limits of the Svalbard archipelago, since the United Kingdom is a signatory of the treaty which governs the demilitarisation and economic exploitation of that Archipelago.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)

We have regular consultations with the Government of Norway on issues of mutual concern.
