§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish in the Official Report details of use of the tenants' exchange scheme in its first two years, in particular by elderly people.
§ Sir George Young[pursuant to his reply, 28 October 1983]: The tenants exchange scheme was launched in England and Wales on 1 April 1982 and extended to Northern Ireland on 1 October 1982. At the end of the scheme's first year there were about 52,000 active registrations and there are now about 36,000. The reduction in numbers is largely because of the tenants whose registrations expired at the end of the first year. The number of registrants who are elderly is not known because information about tenants' age is not sought.
