§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Secretary of State for Energy how much heat is required to maintain comparable houses at a comfort temperature for the following places, taking Glasgow as the base: Dundee, Aberdeen and Dumfries.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithAlthough I understand that some statistical information has been provided to similar questions in the past, in practice individual heating requirements can vary widely, depending on location, climate, needs and patterns of household behaviour, and the design of individual buildings. Accordingly I believe that it could be misleading to provide simplified information in the form requested.
102WNote:
In order to put all the information on a consistent basis the profit figures before 1980–81 have been restated to take account of changes in the company's accounting practices and therefore differ from those published in the annual report and accounts.
I understand that the company expects that its results this year will be at least as good as those for 1982–83.
