§ Mr. Michieasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on his proposals for implementing the urban programme during the next 12 months.
§ Sir George YoungThe Government will continue to concentrate the resources available for the urban programme, including urban development grant, on the areas of greatest need, and will encourage local authorities to secure good value for money in applying these resources to economic and environmental improvement, and the alleviation of social needs. We shall continue to promote the involvement of the private sector in urban renewal.
