§ Mr. Durantasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement about the report of the Cowan review group which has been considering the needs of advanced further education in Londonderry.
§ Mr. ScottThe report is being published today and copies have been placed in the Library. The main recommendation is that, for an initial period of five years, there should be joint provision of courses by the North West college of technology and the proposed University of Ulster.
I will give the report urgent consideration and I am consulting the Western Education and Library Board and the steering group planning the merger of the New University of Ulster and the Ulster polytechnic.
