§ Mr. Allan StewartThe number of companies that have gone into receivership between July 1982 and September 1983—inclusive—which is the period for which figures are available, is 3,789 in Great Britain and 210 in Scotland. The appointment of a receiver does not necessarily mean liquidation, as sometimes a buyer can be found for a company in receivership.
