§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, in view of the recent actions of other elements of the multinational force in the Lebanon, what part Her Majesty's Government now expect the British contingent in the Lebanon to play in the restoration of constitutional government in that country.
§ Mr. LuceLike other contributors to the multinational force, we support the legitimate Government of President Gemayel in their efforts to achieve national reconciliation and restore stability and independence to Lebanon. The British contingent continues to play an important part in 453W this process. Among its other tasks, it is providing an impartial guard for meetings of the important committee supervising the present ceasefire.
