Mr. ShawAn engineering design study of a commercial scale power plant incorporating a pressurised400W fluidised bed is being undertaken jointly by my Department, the CEGB and the NCB. The programme is being managed by the CEGB but the main part of the study will be undertaken by private industry, drawing upon the expertise of the two energy industries and experience with the pressurised fluidised combustion facility at Grimethorpe, which has been built and operated under the auspices of the International Energy Agency with NCB participation and Government financial support.
