Mr. Soames

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many retired officers are employed by country in the British Army of the Rhine, the United Kingdom, Cyprus and Hong Kong.

Mr. Lee

As at 23 November 1983 the number of retired Army officers employed in the retired officer class in the following countries is as follows:

There are currently 13 retired officers employed in the various units which are part of the Royal Armoured Corps centre. The posts are as follows:

Recent reviews of the establishments of these units have produced recommendations which will, when implemented, result in changes in some of the posts and an overall reduction of two RO posts.
