HC Deb 24 November 1983 vol 49 c241W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will consider ways of improving the liaison between bodies representing the disabled and local health authorities and local authority social service departments; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Schedule 5 to the Health and Social Services and Social Adjudications Act 1983 places a duty upon the Secretary of State to secure voluntary organisation representation on the joint consultative committees formed between local authorities and health authorities. It is expected that this provision will be brought into force during 1984. Local authorities and district health authorities have already been asked to give further consideration to the inclusion of voluntary sector representatives on the joint care planning teams established to plan services for individual client groups.
