asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the estimated annual cost of travel undertaken by civil servants employed by his Department (a) within the United Kingdom and (b) abroad.

These figures do not include estimated expenditure by the Department of Economic Development for which figures in the form requested could not be provided without disproportionate cost. The total estimated expenditure by the Department of Economic Development on travel and subsistence in 1983–84 is £1,400,000 including £0.5 million for the Industrial Development Board.
