HC Deb 23 November 1983 vol 49 c197W
Sir Paul Hawkins

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he has any plans to review food legislation in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Jopling

Yes. A number of issues have arisen since the last review was completed which, in my view, and that of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Social Services, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and the Home Department, justify a further review of the legislation by officials.

This does not affect the Government's intention at a suitable opportunity to strengthen the law controlling the sale of food unfit for human consumption upon which there has already been some initial consultation.
