§ Mr. Peter MorrisonA total of 13,215 16-year-olds left school in Tyne and Wear in the summer of 1983. Those whose whereabouts were known to the careers service on 10 November included 2,532 who had found employment, 7,314 who were on the youth training scheme and 1,603 who were unemployed.
