§ Dr. BoysonThe average cost of funerals varies widely depending upon the locality and services provided. The best estimate I have is that the average cost of a simple funeral lies between £350 and £600. The standard rate death grant of £30 thus represents between about 5 per cent. and 8½ per cent. of the average cost.
