§ Mr. StanleyThere are a large number of archaeological sites on the Salisbury plain training area. Every effort is made to ensure that they are not damaged20W during training but many are unrecognisable to the untutored eye, and unfortunately damage does occur. Discussions are shortly to take place with the directorate of ancient monuments and historic buildings in the Department of the Environment on how the sites can be better protected in the future.
