asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many redundancy notifications were given during the last month for which statistics are available in the Workington travel-to-work area.

There were no advance notifications of redundancies in the Workington travel-to-work area in October 1983.

However, 33 redundancies* were confirmed as due to occur during the month of September, the latest month for which statistics are available.
