§ Mr. Squireasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will take steps to ensure that tenants exercising their right to buy are promptly informed by their landlord of the proposed price and terms of sale.
§ Mr. GowYes. Given the experience which landlord authorities now have of processing applications under the right to buy, there is no reason why offer notices should be long delayed. The Government have therefore tabled an amendment to the Housing and Building Control Bill which will require all offer notices under section 10 of the Housing Act 1980 to be served on the tenant within eight weeks of admission of the right to buy.
