§ Mr. NewtonPrecise statistics are not kept of the number of claimants paid other than weekly or four weekly, under the provisions of regulation 6E(3) of the Child Benefit (Claims and Payments) Regulations 1976. The main category is families of Her Majesty's forces and civil servants who are serving abroad and some 30,000 of these are paid child benefit, with their pay, either fortnightly or by calendar month. Quarterly payments are made to about 400 people with no fixed address, to some 270 people who are temporarily abroad and, for various reasons, to 12 other individuals.
