HL Deb 14 November 1983 vol 444 c1144WA
Lord Irving of Dartford

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made with the EEC draft directive, first published in 1974, on radio interference caused by high frequency industrial and medical equipment; and what view they take of the need for such a directive.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Lord Belstead)

Discussions on the draft directive have not taken place since 1981. At that time, agreement had still not been reached on the appropriate radio interference limits to be laid down in the directive. Her Majesty's Government believe that harmonisation of member states' regulations on radio interference from industrial, scientific and medical equipment is desirable in order to reduce barriers to trade.
