§ Mr. Fieldasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in calculating payments due to local authorities for the administration of housing benefits, he will allow for expenditure on staff visiting claimants who are elderly or confused.
§ Dr. BoysonIt is not normally necessary for people to be visited in connection with their housing benefit claims. However, in special cases where a home visit is required, the necessary costs of visiting will be eligible for subsidy, with other housing benefit administration costs, under the terms of Article 7 of the Housing Benefits (Subsidy) (No 2) Order 1982.
