§ Mr. Giles ShawThe Government are jointly funding the £500,000 study by the Severn Tidal Power Group (STPG) of the technical and financial viability of a barrage built and operated by the private sector. Its report is expected towards the end of 1984. I have also received a proposal, on which no decision has yet been taken, for a feasibility study of a barrage at a Severn site upstream of that being studied by STPG.
