HC Deb 08 November 1983 vol 48 c91W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will give the most recent figures available of the number of indictable offences known to the police in England and Wales; and what is the ratio per 100,000 of home population;

(2) if he will list the 10 police force areas in England and Wales with the highest crime rates; how many indictable crimes there were in each; and how many offences per 100,000 of population.

Mr. Mellor

Information on the number of notifiable offences recorded by the police in each police force area and the number per 100,000 of the population is published annually in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales" (Table 2.5 and 2.7 of the volume for 1982, Cmnd. 9048).
