HC Deb 04 November 1983 vol 47 c479W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what was the extent of British diplomatic and consular representation in Grenada prior to the recent coup d'état; and on what criteria and at what date it was fixed at that level.

Mr. Raison

The high commissioner in Barbados and members of his diplomatic and consular staff are accredited also to Grenada and visit regularly. We have a second secretary as a resident representative in Grenada who reports to the high commissioner. These arrangements were made in March 1980. They were examined by the Diplomatic Service inspectors later that year, who considered them adequate in the light of British interests in Grenada and financial constraints.
