§ Mr. HurdThe statement on race raltions to the prison service, issued on 5 August, has my right hon. and learned Friend's full backing. He did not discuss its despatch with the chairman of the POA. We are aware of public comments attributed to the chairman but not of any representations from him or from any other person about the statement.
