§ Mrs. Rumboldasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he plans any changes in the arrangements for early retirement enhancement as they apply to the Ministry of Defence service children's education authority.
§ Mr. DunnNo. Full-time teachers employed by the Ministry of Defence service children's education authority may, except in certain circumstances, elect to be covered by the teachers superannuation scheme and are then subject to the qualifying conditions for the early payment of its retirement benefits.
Employers who wish to enhance those benefits must meet themselves the costs of enhancement and administration. The arrangements allowing enhancement for teachers employed by local authorities or in maintained or grant-aided establishments in England and Wales do not cover teachers employed by the Authority, and questions about benefits, beyond those provided under the teachers superannuation scheme, are for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence.
