§ Lord James Douglas-Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement on the future funding of the outer city bypass in Edinburgh and for the possible construction of a western approach road.
§ Mr. Allan StewartIn the light of the most recent economic assessment of the Edinburgh outer city bypass and of its relationship to planned trunk road schemes, I have today written to the vice-convenor of Lothian regional council offering financial assistance to enable them to complete the remaining sections. The proposed Western relief road is a matter for the regional council, and the Government have received no request to aid its construction.
