§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how long Matthew Paul had been in custody when he was found hanged on Friday 6 May in Leman street police station; whether he had been charged; whether charges were contemplated; and, if so, what those charges were.
§ Mr. MayhewWe understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that Matthew Paul was arrested at 2.5 am on 5 May in connection with a murder investigation. Three other persons were arrested in relation to the same matter later that day. Matthew Paul was found dead in his cell at 1.50 pm the following day, 6 May. He had not been charged, but the three others were charged with murder on 7 May.
